Casper Ruud v Tommy Paul Head to Head
There have been three previous meetings between these two players and Ruud leads 2-1.
Paul had won their first ever meeting on the hard courts of Washington in 2017 before Ruud edged past him at the 2020 French Open and followed it up with another win at the 2021 Australian Open.

Tim Van Rijthoven hasn’t made life easy for a few of the top players in recent times and it was no different when he took to court for his second round match against Ruud.
Ruud needed to overcome a one set deficit before carving out a tight, four-set win in a match that lasted two hours and 50 minutes.
The Norwegian number one got himself an early break but was broken right back in the very next game of that first set. And then when pushed into a tie-breaker, Ruud failed to get going as Van Rijthoven grabbed 7-4.
Ruud was never broken again in the match, but made himself enough opportunities to be able to get past his opponent’s serve and stymied the advancing Van Rijthoven each time.
He now has his first opportunity to make it to the fourth round here.

Paul in Another Five-Setter
After having been stretched to an exhausting five-setter by Bernabe Zapata Miralles in the first round, Paul needed another five to overcome Sebastian Korda in a match that lasted three hours and 20 minutes.
Paul looked to have begun in a manner that underlined he meant business as he bagelled Korda in the first set but was then broken once apiece in the next two sets to concede the advantage.
The comeback came in the fourth set when Paul broke Korda in the fourth game before clinching it off his fourth set-point. In a nervous final set, the two held on to their serves till 2-2 but at the sight of the first break-point, Paul broke Korda to go 3-2 up.
Saving the only other break-point of the set at 4-2, Paul finished off the match by serving it out to love in the 10th game of the final set.
