Alison Riske v Wang Xiyu Head to Head
There has been one previous meeting between these two players which came at the 2021 Nottingham Open. Riske had won that match on grass in three sets.

After a routine first round win over the American wildcard entrant Eleana Yu, Riske had gone into her second round match as a 1/2 favourite to demolish Maria Camila Osorio Serrano.
And when she won the first set after three breaks of serves in the first three games of the match, things looked to be going to script.
However, Osorio Serrano overcame an early break of serve to push the second set into a tie-breaker in which she clinched the equaliser with her second set-point. And when in the second Osorio Serrano broke Riske twice to serve for a 5-1 lead, the writing looked to be on the wall.
Except it wasn’t as Riske broke back twice, and then missed four chances to break a third time to win the match before repelling her opponent off in the 10-point tie-breaker that followed.
Can Riske now emulate her best ever showing at the US Open which had come way back in 2013.

Xiyu Stunner for Sakkari
For the second match in running Xiyu was a set down in her match and for the second successive match, she managed to overturn that to register a three-set victory.
What made it doubly impressive was this time around the win came against the Greek number one and world number three Maria Sakkari, who lost 3-6, 7-5, 7-5. The match lasted two hours and 45 minutes.
Having gone into the encounter at 7/2 odds to win it, Xiyu followed up her performances at both, the Washington Open and Granby Open with another solid showing here.
Sakkari had a chance to win it in the decider when she broke to take a 3-1 lead but lost her serve and Wang then clinched it on the Greek’s serve at 5-6.
Despite being ranked 75th in the world, Xiyu’s form has shown to be anything but from someone ranked that low. Expect the Chinese player to put up a show here.
Riske v Xiyu Prediction and Tip
Riske is a favourite at 7/10 to win this but Xiyu could actually surprise a few here and clinch a fourth round berth in this one.
