Jule Niemeier v Qinwen Zheng Head to Head

Qinwen Zheng is one fire. The 19-year-old Chinese teenager has reached round three in her third successive Grand Slam. In her last two majors – the French Open and Wimbledon, the respective champions had to go through her – after enduring a fierce clash – to win the title.
At the Flushing Meadows, she has already dismissed the number 16 seed Jelena Ostapenko and later, Anastasia Potapova with 7-6(4), 7-6(3).
Zheng arrived in New York, boasting a career-high ranking of World No. 39 and an enviable tally of 30-14 – backed by ITF Orlando and Valencia Challenger titles. She was also a quarterfinalist in Toronto, where she moved past Ons Jabeur and Bianca Andreescu.
Qinwen has proven to be an exceptional player who is on a solid trajectory.

Niemeier Upsets Putintseva
Jule Niemeier, age 23, has done quite well to reach the third round in this year’s US Open. She began with a straight-set win over Sofia Kenin and followed it with a clinical 6-4, 6-3 win over Yulia Putintseva.
These results are certainly impressive, given that some may consider Niemeier’s speciality to be clay courts. Of course, that is subject to change as the German is finally having a breakthrough season.
Although she arrived for the tournament with a record of 31-17, many of those wins came in her title run in Makarska Challenger, ITF Zagreb, and a semifinal run in ITF Wiesbaden. Jule was also a quarterfinalist in Wimbledon, beating Xiyu Wang, Anett Kontaveit, Lesia Tsurenko, and Heather Watson.
That said, her last event before the NY major was an ITF event in the Bronx, where she fell in the first round.
Zheng v Niemeier Prediction and Tip
Zheng’s superior hard-court pedigree and overall season make her the heavy favourite here. Although she is just 19, she has gone head to head with many well known players in 2022 and that kind of experience can help her reach the fourth round here.
