Rybakina Preparing for Slovenia Open Final

As we are writing the preview for the first round match at the Tokyo Open, Elena Rybakina is getting ready to play in another final of the season.

The 2022 Wimbledon champion will be taking on Katerina Siniakova in the final of the Slovenia Open later on Sunday. She has been one of the consistent performers on the tour this year and a 35-16 season record testifies that. Sunday’s final is her third of the year.

She finished runner-up to Ash Barty in Adelaide, beat Ons Jabeur for her first Grand Slam title at the All England Club and will be hoping to win her fourth career title in her 10th final on Sunday.

A solid hard court player, Rybakina is 18-9 on the surface this year. The 23-year-old World no. 25 will be playing in the Tokyo Open for the first time. She did play in the Tokyo Olympics though, agonisingly missing out on bronze after going down to Elena Svitolina in an edge-of-the-seat bronze medal match.

Coming into the tournament in great touch, the eighth seed will look to make a solid start.
