Brandon Nakashima v Daniel Galan Head to Head

They played once before and it happened at this year’s Wimbledon. Nakashima won in straight sets.

Nakashima Cruising in San Diego

Brandon Nakashima is back to playing strong tennis as the American is doing really well on native soil. It’s hardly a surprise, most American’s do exceptionally well on home soil and he’s no different. A chance to go into the semi-final is a big one for Nakashima as he takes on a player whom he is expected to beat.

Yes, Galan is a solid player but not a player that Nakashima should fear, especially not on the hard courts of North America. The American is 29-22 on the year but only 13-12 on hard courts and that could certainly improve. He didn’t have the greatest US Open but he also ran into Jannik Sinner.

Nakashima needs deep runs to regain some of the lost confidence and a deep run here would do wonders for him. Not only would it push him into the top 50 it would also prepare him well for next year as it’s a crucial one. The youngster hopes to establish himself and lacklustre draws like this one is the moment to do so.

Galan’s Superb Season Continues

Danie Galan had a down year last year and he saw his ranking drop quite a bit. He wasn’t a top 100 player in the world and that was a problem. To counter that, he played some amazing tennis this year posting a 48-23 record so far and returning to the top 100.

Most of his wins came on clay which is his best surface but he does well on hard courts as well. Two wins this week certainly prove that and they were against tricky players. He has a powerful serve and precise groundstrokes albeit not much power.

Nakashima is a tough matchup for him but he’ll do his best with a semi-final on the line. Chances like this don’t come often for him so he needs to take this chance. Being on hard will give him more chances than his Wimbledon defeat gave.

Nakashima v Galan Prediction and Tip

So their lone match came this year at Wimbledon and Nakashima easily won that match in straight sets. That is literally the worst surface of Galan so it’s hardly a surprise.

While better on hard courts, it’s highly unlikely he will be able to do much better against Nakashima. I expect the American to win but probably in three sets.

Tip: Nakashima to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
