Dan Evans v Marcos Giron Head to Head

They played twice and Evans won both matches.

Evans Cruising in San Diego

Dan Evans is through to the semifinal of the event in San Diego and he has done so by winning two matches. All of his matches were superb as he didn’t drop a single set in either.

The opposition hasn’t been the greatest but he did his job and won the matches.

The Brit does really well on hard court and while his form has been all over the place this year something clicked for him. He is serving well, he is picking his spots on the net really well and forcing his opponent to make mistakes which is typical for his game.

Giron is a player against whom he has had a lot of success in the past so he’ll certainly be confident ahead of this one. A positive H2H should help with that but also the difference in styles.

He can start to overhit often and if Evans returns many balls back the chance for that goes up.

Giron Hoping to Break Evans Curse

Marcos Giron had two tries to defeat Dan Evan in the past but both failed. Both of those matches came last year as well, at a time when he was playing better tennis than he is playing now. Yes, Giron is in the semi-final but he hasn’t played that well all year long.

The serve is working, the crowd is backing him and he’s just feeling comfortable. Both of his wins were also in straight sets so it’s clear that the condition and surface suit him. He will need to bring a lot more consistency to his matchup against Evans because, in the past, the Brit was able to bait him into many errors.

It’s going to be a good match and a huge chance for Giron to book a final because his season has not been that good. After going 39-25 last year, he’s only 19-26 this year.

That is certainly something he needs to improve but it also highlights his struggle with consistency this year.

Evans v Giron Prediction and Tip

As much as the crowd will be backing Giron in this one, there is just something in this matchup that completely throws him off.

I expect Evans to win this comfortably because he’s far more consistent than his opponent and that matters.

Tip: Evans to win in straight sets: 6/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
