Shuai Zhang v Jil Teichmann Head to Head
Zhang is 2-0 against the Swiss. She won in Acapulco in 2018 and at the U.S. Open this year.

World no. 28 Shuai Zhang is coming off a solid Tokyo Open campaign. Zhang knocked out U.S. Open runner-up Caroline Garcia en route the semifinal, but couldn’t reach the final after falling to Liudmila Samsonova on Saturday.
The 33-year-old is 34-24 overall in 2022, and has featured in two tour-level finals. She won the title in Lyon to win her third WTA title and then finished runner-up in Birmingham.
She has been in good form recently and is 11-4 from the last 15 matches. Zhang was a quarterfinalist in Cincinnati and Cleveland, reached the Round of 16 at the U.S. Open and was a semifinalist in Tokyo.
The Chinese is 22-14 on hard courts in 2022 and will be eager to keep building on her splendid season with another decent run in Tallinn.

Teichmann In Search of Consistency
Facing Zhang will be world no. 31 Jil Teichmann, who has had an up-and-down run this year.
The 25-year-old Swiss had a pretty good run on clay this year, but she has struggled to have a similar impact on other surfaces.
Overall she is 21-19 this year and her best result came in Madrid where she was a semifinalist. She was also a quarterfinalist in Rome and reached the last 16 at the French Open.
On hard courts, she has a 10-12 season record and her best on the surface was a run to the quarterfinals in Dubai.
She is currently on a three-match losing streak. After going down in the third round of the Canadian Open, the lefty lost her opening round match in Cincinnati and then fell in the first round of the U.S. Open to Zhang.
This will be the first time that Teichmann will be playing since her U.S. Open loss and interestingly it will be against Zhang. Can she get a quick revenge?

Zhang is 2-0 against Teichmann, has shown better form recently and also beat the Swiss in the latter’s last match. So the Chinese will hold the edge going into this contest. Expect her to advance to the next round.
