Bondar Has Been Consistent on Clay

Anna Bondar prefers playing on clay courts and the 25-year-old World no. 60 will be eyeing a deep run in Parma.

Seeded no. 5 in the tournament, the Hungarian is 25-11 on clay and 35-26 overall this year.

Some of her most notable performances this year included semifinal finishes in Rabat and Budapest. She was also in the final four of the WTA 125 in Karlsruhe and WTA 125 in Budapest last week. With her only WTA 125 title coming on clay and also 10 of her 12 ITF titles coming on the surface, it is clear that she has a preference for dirt.

She has been rewarded for her consistency this year and she will look to continue the good work in Parma.

Sherif Has two Titles on Clay in 2022

World no. 74 Mayar Sherif is a very difficult opponent to face first up. The Egyptian has had a very good run particularly on clay this year, winning two WTA 125 titles.

Sherif defeated Tamara Korpatsch in the final in Marbella and lifted the Karsruhe trophy by ousting Bernarda Pera in the title clash. In both those tournaments, Sherif won the titles without dropping a set.

While a 1-12 season record on hard courts is a proof of her struggles on faster surfaces, but she made up for that on clay, with a 16-5 record in 2022.

This month, Sherif was a quarterfinalist in Bucharest and could only reach the second round in Budapest, but she will be a player to watch in Parma and if she beats Bondar in the opener, she could be going deep in the tournament.

Bondar v Sherif Prediction and Tip

This is going to be a close contest and may go the distance. Serif recently beat Bondar in straight sets and that will give her slight edge. Expect the Egyptian to edge out the fifth seed in three.

Tip: Sherif to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
