Lauren Davis v Mayar Sherif Head to Head
There has been one previous meeting between these two players with Davis having won the 2021 Monterrey Open encounter in three sets to make the round two.

While Davis was a favourite going into her first round encounter against Sara Errani and then clinched it in straight sets, she was 21/10 underdog against the other Sara.
Sara Torribes Tormo loves her time on clay and she looked to have lived up to her 2/5 winning odds in their second round match when she the Spaniard pouched the first set.
From there on, however, Davis slowly inched back and carved out a 3-6, 6-4, 7-5 win to make it to the quarterfinals for the third competition in a row. She had done that in the WTA 125 competition of Budapest Open last week after registering a similar result at the US Open too.
A semifinalist at the Bastad Open this season, Davis will now have the chance to make it to her second such stage of 2022 when she faces the Karlsruhe Open winner.

Sherif 18-5 on Clay This Season
Looking at Sherif’s overall clay court season across all levels, she has won 18 of the 23 matches she has played in and that makes her an opponent to reckon.
In fact, such has been dominance on clay that the Egyptian player – who was once ranked 44th in the world – has won three WTA titles – including WTA 125 ones – in her career and both have been on this surface.
And she enters this match on the back of successive straight-set wins against Anna Bondar and Simona Waltert.
Not surprisingly, Sherif will start off a favourite but can ill-afford to be complacent given the margin of error against an in-form Davis might not be a lot.
