Jannik Sinner played twice in the Sofia Open final and he won both times. He will get a chance to secure the 3rd final here on Saturday taking on the tricky Holger Rune. They never played before but it’s obvious that Sinner is the far better player and more accomplished at this stage.
The Italian loves Sofia and comes back here every year and he won his maiden trophy here. It’s a special place for him and he has a lot of confidence playing here as his record at the event shows. Rune will be a tricky opponent but the Danish player doesn’t offer anything Sinner hasn’t seen before.
It’s been a very good year for the Italian who has a 45-13 record on the year and 2-0 indoors. He grew up playing indoors so he feels rather comfortable in these conditions. He was 14-6 last year. He won both matches in the Davis leading up to this even so he is peaking at the right time.

Rune Hoping to Make Rare Final
Holger Rune won a couple of solid matches this week to book a place in the semifinal and a chance to take on Jannik Sinner. These are the chances that Rune looks for and he enjoys playing against the best players because that is how he sees himself.
It’s been a very long season for Rune as he has 34 wins and 25 losses this year and he’s not in that great of a shape recently. He’s been good this week thanks to some good serving and very aggressive play. It’s going to be hard again Sinner because the Italian pretty much plays the same way.
He is far more consistent and is a better problem solver thanks to playing more big matches so it’s a proper test for Rune.
If he wins that match he can certainly be confident about the final as well and after winning his maiden trophy in Munich earlier, that’s something he would enjoy very much.
Sinner v Rune Prediction and Tip
Sinner is favoured to win this match because he is the better player but it might not be as simple as he might like. Rune can complicate things but I don’t see him winning the match.
