Lorenzo Musetti cancelled his Astana Open participation next week and I’m pretty sure it’s because he expects to play on Sunday. The final is on that day and Musetti is highly favoured to advance to that stage of the event. Who can blame him for expecting to win this match because he has shined so much this week?
All of his wins were pretty strong but his performance against Jan-Lennard Struff has been amazing.
He completely took apart the game of the German not allowing him anything. It seems like we are witnessing the Italian finally figuring things out and his superb win over Carlos Alcaraz in Hamburg pretty much showed that.
He is serving really well and playing strong from the baseline. The returns are working really well and he’s just full of confidence in his play and it showing. He is the better player in this matchup and he certainly expects to win and book another final.

Huesler’s Chance for a Final
Marc-Andrea Huesler hasn’t had many chances to play finals and while he has one ATP title to his name it’s in the doubles. It did happen this year so there is that. The Swiss player is a natural fit indoors because he is very tall and has a very powerful serve.
It’s his main weapon and when it’s working it’s really hard to counter. That aggressive serving translates to other parts of his game as well and he generally likes to attack with full force. He will certainly bring that same playstyle to this matchup and Musetti will have some issues.
Still, the Swiss player also showed himself to be vulnerable. He passed all tests so far but this will be the biggest one.
He has never faced Musetti before so he certainly won’t be ready for some of the tricks the Italian can bring to a match. Either way, a rare chance for him.
Musetti v Huesler Prediction and Tip
While you could argue that the result will depend on the serve of Huesler I think it’s the opposite. It will be the return to Musetti that seals it and I think it’ll be good enough.
