Adrian Mannarino v Stan Wawrinka Head to Head

They played once and Mannarino won that match.

Mannarino in Poor Form

Adrian Mannarino is generally a very good indoor player yet recently his form has been all over the place. He played one match for France in the Davis Cup beating Oscar Otte and that’s a fairly decent win. Since then he played two more matches and he lost both of them.

Worse than the losses are the fact that he didn’t even win a single set in that one. Both of those came against players he technically could have beaten so it’s clear that his form is going downward. Astana is a good spot for him though as he played well here in the past.

He played in the final a few years ago but lost to John Millman and since then he has returned every year. This year is a very tough draw for him as he takes on Stan Wawrinka who has looked very good in recent weeks. He did beat him once so perhaps the matchup suits him more.

Wawrinka Hoping to Continue Sparkle

Just like his opponent, Wawrinka took part in the Metz even two weeks ago. He did much better than Mannarino reaching the semi-final where Alexander Bublik proved better after only a couple of games. Wawrinka retired from the match due to a leg injury so his fitness is unclear for this one.

Obviously, he will be ready to play but perhaps he won’t be 100 % and that might be an issue. Before getting injured Wwarinka played really well and served really well.

That’s the most important part of his game indoors and he has a fairly decent indoor game. He’s 5-1 this year after all and it’s not been a very good year overall with an 8-12 score.

Wawrinka lost the only match he played against Mannarino but he can certainly win this one if he is fully healthy and plays as he played in Metz. If he does that actually I’m pretty certain he’ll win. We just don’t know if he is fully recovered.

Mannarino v Wawrinka Prediction and Tip

So I’d be open to backing Wawrinka if I could trust his recovery. I’m not fully sold on that so I’ll just back the over as they are both hard to break indoors generally.

Tip: Over 21.5 games in the match: 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
