Marc-Andrea Huesler became an ATP champion on Sunday when he surprisingly defeated Holger Rune in the Sofia Open final. It’s just been that kind of weak for the Swiss player, a week where everything worked and he left Bulgari with a trophy.
It’s been a deserving victory but it also showed why he can be a very tricky player to play. It all starts with the serve, a very strong and precise one. On certain days it’s so good that even someone like Novak Djokovic would struggle with it. Rune could do nothing against it and Ruusuvuori will have problems as well.
Then he has everything he needs to back it up.
Solid groundstrokes, some variety and quite a lot of confidence in his game. He is 44-24 on the year so it’s been a really strong one so far and there is a solid chance he might keep it going in Astana.

Husler won their previous match but there is a general trend in tennis that most players disappoint after winning a trophy and I think it will continue. It might be tough but I see Ruusuvuori as the winner.
