Novak Djokovic v Cristian Garin Head to Head
Two previous matches have been played between these players at the highest level and Djokovic has won them both including a fourth round win at Wimbledon last year.

Djokovic enters this tournament on the back of a solid showing in the newly-formed ATP tournament in Tel Aviv. Featuring as the top seed there, Djokovic wasted not a lot of breath in winning four matches in straight sets to clinch the title.
In the final, Djokovic was expected to be given a fight by the second seeded Marin Cilic but came through 6-3, 6-4 to lift the trophy.
And with the ATP Finals qualification and victory his goal, Djokovic will hope to continue that winning streak going.
While Djokovic did go down in his Laver Cup singles match against Felix Auger-Aliassime, his last loss on the circuit to a player not Rafael Nadal came in the first week of May.
With that kind of form under his belt, it doesn’t look like Djokovic would be tested here.

Garin’s Played Just Nine Hard Court Matches This Season
Known to be a clay court player, Garin’s record on hard court surfaces this year isn’t as bad as it otherwise can be. He has managed to feature in four such tournaments and won four matches in them, while losing five.
Garin’s best result on hard courts this season came at the Australian Open where he managed a third round appearance. The Chilean player achieved that on the back of successive five-set wins.
More recently, Garin also surprised Jiri Lehecka in the first round of the US Open before he went down in four sets to Alex de Minaur. That’s a performance that does indicate he can compete on this surface but the big question is whether he can do that against Djokovic – irrespective of the surface.
The straightforward answer to that is, no.
