Every now and then Tsitsipas has managed to come up with a series of performances which have kept him in top bracket of players but as a player tipped to be one of the first other than the Big Three to win a Grand Slam he has struggled to get the results he would have desired.
Sure he has won a couple of ATP titles this season and is fourth in the Race to the ATP Finals rankings but a third round exit at Wimbledon and an opening loss at the US Open this year speak volumes about how the second half of his season has gone.
That said, Tsitsipas started off his campaign here with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Mikhail Kukushkin, coasting to that victory without facing a single break-point.
And following his hour and 24 minutes encounter, Tsitsipas now faces another low-ranked opponent which could make things easier for him. The question is whether he can use the lack of difficulty in this early rounds to make things work for him later in the tournament.

Nardi Wins Maiden Main Draw Match
Just 19 years of age, Nardi had come into the qualifiers of this tournament having lost all three of his ATP career main draw matches.
He had an easy opening win in the qualifiers to kick things but then coming up against David Goffin in the second, was a 23/10 underdog to cause an upset. An opening set loss made it that much difficult for Nardi but when he came back to win the next two in tie-breakers against Goffin, the world’s eyes were on him.
Not that it seemed to bother him too much as Nardi carved out a 7-6 (4), 6-2 victory over Alexander Shevchenko in the first round to win his first ever match.
And while he now faces a world number six, Nardi will be thrilled in the knowledge he would have broken into the top 130 of the rankings when the new ones are released early next week.
Tsitsipas v Nardi Prediction and Tip
Tsitsipas will start off a favourite at 3/20 but the lack of having seen his opponent play could be a factor here. Expect a fighting one of two sets here.
