Nakashima’s Indoors Return

Brandon Nakashima has not played much indoors but he’s capable of producing some good tennis. He took part in the East Asia events in recent weeks and he did rather well. It improved his overall record to 33-23 and it’s a very good season for the youngster.

He improved overall and solidified himself in the top 100 with a decent chance of breaking out next year. He is the prototypical American player with a strong serve and really solid groundstrokes. All of that will work well indoors and it has in the past.

He went 20-5 last year indoors but only played two matches so far. It’s certainly a good chance for him to end the year on a good note. He faes a solid player that should present a challenge for him albeit not one he can’t overcome if he plays his usual.

Gasquet Slowing Down

Richard Gasquet has played a combination of ATP events and challenger events in recent weeks. He opted not to travel much outside his native France but rather stay there and play some challenger events. It wasn’t that good because he dropped some matches clearly showing that he is indeed slowing down.

Still capable of good tennis when he finds motivation, Gasquet does struggle to keep up with the most youngster on the Tour who bring this new aggressive style of play that is hard to counter. The record overall is still good 30-22 but that’s mainly due to strong performances earlier.

He’s 2-3 in his last 5 matches and most of those matches were not against top-tier ATP talent. He will face a tricky challenge in Nakashima, one against whom he should struggle generally but we’ll see. Perhaps he finds some inspiration in Florence.

Nakashima v Gasquet Prediction and Tip

I don’t think this should be a very difficult matchup for Nakashima. He just needs to keep his serve at a high rate and he should be good.

Tip: Nakashima to win in straight sets: 1/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
