Jo-Wilfried Tsonga v Pierre-Hugues Herbert Head to Head

The players have met twice before on the ATP tour, including once already at the Montpellier ATP 250. Tsonga won on both occasions with comfortable ease.

Tsonga’s Solid Start to the Year

For the fourth time in six years, the ATP Montpellier 250 features two Frenchmen in the finals, as veteran Jo-Wilfred Tsonga plays doubles specialist Pierre-Hugues Herbert for the title.

Former Montpellier champion Tsonga has had a positive start to the season thus far, after a long injury layoff and looked in good form this week.

Tsonga was at his commanding best against fellow Frenchmen Giles Simon and Jeremy Chardy, wheras semi-finalist Radu Albot was unable to provide much competition either. Former top ten player, Tsonga has shown glimpses of himself at his peak, with his serve and powerful game both being on song.

Having fallen outside the top 200 in the ATP rankings with his absence from the tour for the majority of 2018, Tsonga will be looking to continue his move up the rankings with a title win here.

Doubles Specialist Herbert Looking for First Singles Title

French doubles specialist Pierre- Hugues Herbert, who completed his doubles career slam with Nicolas Mahut at the Australian Open, has gone from strength to strength on the singles circuit. After a successful run at Montpellier already, Herbert will break into the top 40 of the singles rankings for the first time on Monday next week.

Herbert, with a serving style similar to John McEnroe, has put in impressive performances this week, to beat Denis Shapovalov and in-form Tomas Berdych in straight sets. The Frenchman has attacked with a serve and volley game, that has troubled opponents.

Playing his third ATP singles final ever, Herbert will be looking for his maiden title.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga v Pierre-Hugues Herbert Predictions & Tips

Herbert will hope to continue his attacking form and look to home fan support, against his fellow countryman veteran. It is likely he may need to overcome some nerves given the occasion, the venue and his first singles title at stake.

Tsonga, on the other hand, has been in such situations several times in his career.

He has also been in excellent form all week and will look to continue his run in the final as well. While the final promises to be closer than the previous matchups of these players, expect Tsonga’s experience, and current form to prevail.

Tsonga to win this one in straight sets with  (bet365) offering 1/1 for that.

You can watch & bet on Tsonga v Herbert on Sunday, February 10. The match will be held from 2.30 pm local time (1.30 pm BST)
