Coco Gauff v Robin Montgomery

Coco Gauff returns to tennis after taking time off following the conclusion of the US Open. The American saw her US Open experience cut short in the quarter-final which was disappointing for her as he was playing really well.

San Diego is not an event she played before because it wasn’t an event but she knows the facilities having played here a couple of times.

She faces a player whom she knows well although they never played a professional match against one another. Montgomery is a solid player but one that is nowhere near the level of Gauff. The phenom should have an easy time winning this one and I do think she will.

As much as Mongomery will try and battle with her opponent, it’s not going to end well for her. Back Gauff to win in straight sets.

Tip: Gauff to win in straight sets: 8/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)

Anastasia Potapova v Ann Li

Anastasia Potapova will face Ann Li in what will be the first time they face each other. Both of these players were in action last week in Monastir but neither impressed with their tennis. It’s been a mixed bag of results for both players although they possess quite a bit of talent.

Li did not play too many matches this year and she has a bad 11-15 record. Lately, it’s been a bit better with some notable wins but nothing that would resemble some of her better performances last year. She’s fairly young but has time to develop into a good player.

Anastasia Potapova has had a much better season overall with 33 wins and 22 losses with a trophy to her name as well. She also has a more explosive game than Li at the moment as she has far more power in her groundstrokes. I do think it will be competitive and we will most likely see three sets.

Tip: Over 20.5 games in the match: 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)

Maria Sakkari v Donna Vekic

Two underperforming players will face each other in San Diego in a match where anything can really happen. Vekic can beat Sakkari and the Greek can certainly do the same. I do expect a close match either way because neither player is playing great at the moment and Sakkari certainly is showing some confidence issues.

The Greek player suffered some shocking losses recently, particularly one against Sherif in the Parma Final recently. They played plenty of times before with Vekic surprisingly leading 4-2. The Croatian was the better player a few years when most of the matches have been played.

The most recent one in Adelaide went to three sets with Vekci winning as well. I expect three sets in this one as well as neither is playing good but Sakkari is the better player and one should expect her to get it done over the course of three sets.

Tip: Sakkari to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
