Daniil Medvedev v Jeremy Chardy Head to Head
The duo has met only once on the tour – the 2018 ATP London. It was Chardy who won that match in straight sets and took a 1-0 lead in the head to head tally.
Medvedev’s Roaring Start to the Season
The 22-year-old Russian is coming in strong after winning the Sofia Open last week. That is his first title of the season – his fourth overall and so far, he has lost only two matches while winning 11 of them.
Medvedev’s remarkable run in Sofia saw him move past Martin Klizan, Gael Monfils, and Marton Fucsovics in straight sets. He had an equally mesmerizing run in Brisbane as well but back then, he had to settle for the runner-up trophy. He also reached the fourth round in the Australian Open.
The World No. 16 had a season to remember last year. In addition to winning three singles titles, he reached the quarterfinal in Rotterdam and St. Petersburg. He eventually capped the season with back to back semifinal runs in Basel and Moscow.
Chardy – An Experienced Player with Much to Offer
The Frenchman started his year well by reaching the semifinal in Brisbane, where he lost to Kei Nishikori. His form took a slight hit thereafter as he failed to move past the early rounds. It wasn’t until he went to Montpellier that he found some rhythm and reached the quarterfinal.
Chardy hasn’t won a singles title since 2009 and it has been almost 10 years now. He spent most of his previous season trying to get past the early rounds but his efforts were in vain.
However, he did have some success in the Indian Wells and Miami Masters where he reached the fourth round. He was also a semifinalist in Istanbul.
Medvedev v Chardy Predictions & Tips
Medvedev has been in a brilliant form over the last couple of weeks. It is hard to imagine him falling to Chardy in the opening round, especially considering the form of the Frenchman.
