J.J. Wolf is finishing up his 2022 season with some indoor tennis in Europe and it’s been going really good. After a solid run at a challenger event, he made his way to Florence where he took down some notable tennis players en route to the final.
He played the final on Sunday and lost to Auger-Aliassime which is not a surprise but it will be a very short turnaround for him for Stockholm. His year overall has been very good with a 40-26 record and a breakout season that finally pushed him inside the top 100.
He was always going to end up there but it took a year of consistent tennis to finally do so. Wolf has a powerful serve and strong groundstrokes from both sides with an affinity to use them and go for winners. He was amazing in Florence but could regress a bit in Stockholm due to fatigue.

Molcan Returns After a Break
Alex Molcan last played in the Davis Cup where he scored two wins for his nation of Slovakia but he hasn’t played since then. He will be fresh physically but also will need some time to find his best tennis. Not being on clay will slow that down but he’s been decent in his career indoors.
The wins in the Davis Cup also came indoors but those opponents were not on his level so they are not that really impressive. His season overall has been quite impressive with a 29-22 record and it looked even better until his form dipped later this year.
Molcan is a very aggressive player and likes to control the match and rallies. That will fall in line with playing indoors as the courts have slowed down quite a bit. A lot in this match will depend on the level he shows upon returning but I think he will be quite solid.
Wolf v Molcan Prediction and Tip
While Wolf has been good I have to wonder whether he’ll be fatigued. Molcan is a good player who battles hard so he can certainly give the favoured Wolf some trouble. I think the over is a good bet because I don’t trust either player in this spot.
