Alize Cornet v Lin Zhu Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came at the WTA New York of 2019 with Cornet clinching it in the second set when Zhu retired from the encounter.

Cornet Returns from Runner-up Trophy in Monastir
It might have been a final to forget at the WTA Monastir but otherwise, Cornet had been a model of consistency in that competition.
Her semifinal win against Veronika Kudermetova in particular, over a player who was 2/5 to win the encounter, would have been pleasing a pointer towards what Cornet could do if things come together for her.
Earlier, Cornet had also made it to the semifinal at the Cleveland Open and Bad Homburg Open but the first signs of a turnaround had come in Melbourne where the Frenchwoman entered the last eight stage.
Can she continue with that kind of form as she faces an opponent who has never been in the top 60 of the rankings?

Zhu Shocked in Monastir
While Cornet was busy winning matches in straight sets at the Monastir Open, Zhu was sent packing in the first round of that tournament – the last she appeared in.
Making it worse for the Chinese player was the fact she lost to Despina Papamichail, who was 7/2 going into the encounter. A bagel in the final set there pointed to Zhu having completely lost the plot.
Zhu had earlier made it to the quarterfinal of the Korea Open but has more or less been involved on the ITF level rather than winning matches on the WTA Tour.
Can Zhu now take down a player in form or will that be a bridge too far for her? We think the latter.
Cornet v Zhu Prediction and Tip
Cornet should have no difficulties in this and we are looking at a straight-set win for the Frenchwoman as Zhu’s recent struggles would seem to indicate.
