A day after battling past Maxime Cressy in two gruelling sets on Tuesday, Stefanos Tsitsipas was made to work hard by home favourite Mikael Ymer in the quarterfinal on Friday, but the Greek once again needed just two sets to keep his chances alive in the tournament.
The world no. 5 saved 10 of 11 break points in the match and converted 3 of 9 to beat Ymer 7-5, 6-3 in an hour and 44 minutes.
The Greek had beaten Cressy 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (14-12) in a two-hour-and-four-minute second round contest on Thursday.
Thanks to the two wins, Tsitsipas extended his perfect record in Stockholm to 6-0. He was a champion here on his debut in 2018. In 2022, Tsitispas has now improved to 55-19. The nine-time tour-level champion won the titles in Monte-Carlo and Mallorca this year and finished runner-up in four other tournaments, including in Astana last week.

Ruusuvuori Demolishes Tiafoe
World no. 52 Emil Ruusuvuori handed third seed Frances Tiafoe a straight sets shellacking to advance to the semifinals in Stockholm.
The Finnish player, who has been extremely dominant this week, won a third straight match without dropping a set. While he was broken once each in the first two rounds, he didn’t face a single break point against Tiafoe.
Ruusuvuori, who won 96% points on his first delivery, was on top of his game right from the start. He broke the American twice in each set to seal a 6-1, 6-2 victory in just 65 minutes.
In the earlier rounds, the 23-year-old had beaten Joao Sousa 6-3, 6-2 in the opening round and had knocked out Jiri Lehecka 6-2, 6-2 in the second.
Ruusuvuori, who will be playing in his third semifinal of the year, is a win from reaching a second career final. His first came earlier this year in Pune, where he went down to Sousa in the final. Can he produce another stunner on Saturday?
