Molcan Takes Down McDonald

Alex Molcan had to play three sets against Mackenzie McDonald but the Slovakian player was able to outlast the American who looked a bit tired at the end. It was a solid match by Molcan albeit nothing special and that’s fine because he’s still getting back into a good rhythm.

His only match before this one was in Stockholm and that was a defeat against J.J. Wolf. Overall it’s been a good year for Molcan who has a 30-23 record with his indoor record being 1-2. He’s been okay on the surface in the past but finding a good level of consistency is important for him.

One of his biggest strengths are his fitness as he can play a long match and that’s how he won against McDonald. He wore him down and pounced when his opponent was not able to play his best.

That is in play here because Rinderknech does not like to play long matches.

Rinderknech Saves Match Points Against Cilic

Saving match points and winning matches is becoming a habit for Arthur Rinderkench as he did it a couple of times this year. He did against Marin Cilic as well and it was a stellar victory for him as improved to 10-3 on the year indoors.

Generally, it’s been a very good year for him with a 37-22 record but playing indoors always elevated his level because it allows him to generate a lot of force behind his first serve. It all starts and stops with his first serve as it’s his main weapon.

He’s very tall so he can go to the net as well and he returns rather well. All of that will prove a factor here, especially if Molcan gives him plenty of chances.

The patience and confidence of Rinderknech should see him move past the Slovakian if all goes well.

Molcan v Rinderkench Prediction and Tip

The French player is the better indoor player and he’s played better so far this year. While playing him to win is a good idea I’ll keep this as an over because I can see Molcan take at least one set.
