Dan Evans v Karen Khachanov Head to Head

The pair have played each other twice before, Evans winning on each occasion, with the two matches both coming in 2020.

He won in three sets in Rotterdam, and again in Antwerp.

Evans Overcomes Lucky Loser

Evans has made the quarter-finals recently in both San Diego and Antwerp, as he looks to finish the season strongly.

His Vienna campaign began with a match against the German Oscar Otte, the world number 88, who had been beaten in the second round of qualifying, but earned a reprieve as a Lucky Loser.

The match began with a marathon game  which saw Otte save five break points before finally dropping his serve.

Another break put Evans firmly in control of the first set and, although Otte clawed one back, it was not enough.

Otte had a great chance to get back on level terms after breaking the Englishman early in the second set and he served for it. However, he fluffed his lines at the crucial moment, was broken in turn, and was second best in the subsequent tie-break.

Khachanov Beats Florence Finalist

US Open semi-finalist Khachanov was handed a potentially tricky first round tie against the American Jeffrey John Wolf, who was a surprise finalist in Florence recently.

It proved to be a match largely dominated by serve, although both had break opportunities in the first set which neither was able to convert.

Khachanov, though, dominated the ensuing tie-break.

Wolf had an early opportunity to break in the second set and was made to regret not taking it. Serving to stay in the match, he conceded the only break, and his challenge was over.

Evans v Khachanov Prediction and Tip

Although Evans has won both their previous two matches, Khachanov is the higher ranked and will be hoping to halve that deficit.
