Pablo Carreno Busta v Albert Ramos-Vinolas Head to Head

Carreno Busta leads 4-1. Most recently, he won in Bastad in their only other 2022 meeting, coming back from a set down to beat Ramos-Vinolas.

Carreno Busta Has Been Inconsistent in Recent Times

Pablo Carreno Busta is coming off three consecutive quarterfinal appearances, but has not been able to go beyond that stage. He would be a touch disappointed with those results as he was expected to go deeper in at least two of those tournaments, in Gijon and Napoli, but he fell to Arthur Rinderknech in the former and Miomir Kecmanovic in the latter.

The world no. 15 had earlier picked up his maiden ATP 1000 title in Canada and that remains his only triumph of 2022 from two finals. The other tournament where he reached the summit clash this year was the Barcelona Open, where he went down to Carlos Alcaraz.

At the Paris Masters, Carreno Busta will be competing for the seventh time. The 31-year-old has a 5-6 record and his best came in 2020, when he reached the quarterfinals of the tournament.

This year, the Spaniard is 35-23 overall, but has a 3-3 record on indoor courts. It’s not been the most productive surface for the seven-time tour-level winner, but two of his 12 finals have come on the surface, with him winning the Kremlin Cup in 2016 and finishing runner-up in Moselle last year.

With a 4-4 record from his last eight matches, he will be looking to tighten his game in the opener on Monday.

Ramos-Vinolas Struggling Outside Clay

Albert Ramos-Vinolas does not have a liking for the indoor hard courts and that is clearly reflected in his 22-39 career record on the surface.

The world no. 40 is 1-3 on the surface this year, with that one win coming in Basel this week against Lorenzo Musetti.

A clay court specialist, Ramos-Vinolas won his only title of the season in Cordoba, and finished 24-18 on clay, but has struggled ever since coming out of his comfort zone. A 5-9 season record on hard courts testifies that.

Ramos-Vinolas will be playing in the Paris Masters for the sixth time. Thrice he has reached the second round, while he went out in the opening round in the last two editions.

The 34-year-old’s best ever performance at the ATP 1000 level was a runner-up finish in Monte-Carlo in 2017 and the four-time tour-level champion has reached just one more quarterfinal at the Masters level.

Carreno Busta v Ramos-Vinolas Prediction and Tip

Given Ramos-Vinolas’ issues on indoor hard courts, Carreno Busta is the favourite in this contest. Expect the latter to win with ease.

Tip: Carreno Busta to win in straight sets: 4/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
