Shapovalov Comes in as Vienna Finalist

Denis Shapovalov will be making his first appearance in the tournament since finishing runner-up to Novak Djokovic at the Paris Masters in 2019.

The lefty is coming into the tournament in excellent form, having played in a second final of the season on Sunday in Vienna. But he couldn’t win his first title of the year after he went down to Daniil Medvedev in three sets.

The Canadian had also reached his first final of the season in October, finishing runner-up to Yoshihito Nishioka at the Korea Open.

Over the last four tournaments, Shapovalov has at least reached the quarterfinal stage of each tournament as a result of which he is 11-4 from his last 15 matches.

Overall, the 23-year-old is 32-23 this year and some of his other notable performances included a quarterfinal debut at the Australian Open and semifinal finishes in Dubai and Tokyo.

Playing for the first time at the Paris Masters since 2019, can he pick up from where he left?

Cerundolo Yet to Prove Himself on Hard Courts

World on. 29 Francisco Cerundolo will be making his Paris Masters debut this year.

The 24-year-old Argentine, who is far more comfortable playing on clay than on other surfaces, sprung a surprise in Miami earlier this season, when he reached his first-ever ATP 1000 semifinal.

But that run to the semis in Miami was a rare hard court achievement for the Argentine, who is 7-8 on hard courts and 3-4 on indoor surfaces from all his matches this year. His recent form has been particularly poor.

Cerundolo, who won his first-ever ATP title in Bastad this year, was also a semifinalist in hamburg the following week. But ever since those solid runs on clay, he lost six on the trot on hard courts. However, he ended that streak in Gijon, where he won on and lost one, and won a match each in the next two tournaments in Antwerp and Vienna.

Shapovalov v Cerundolo Prediction and Tip

Given Shapovalov’s form and his previous record on the surface, he is the favourite to win the contest and should advance without much trouble.

Tip: Shapovalov to win: 2/7 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
