Simona Halep v Elina Svitolina Head to Head

Being two of the top players on the WTA Tour, it comes as no surprise to see that the duo has already met six times on the circuit. Svitolina presently leads by 4-2 in the head to head tally and has dominated four of their last five meetings.

They last met in the final of the 2018 Italian Open, where Svitolina defeated Halep to successfully defend her title in Rome.

Halep Survives Goerges

The World No. 3 has made it to the semifinal for the first time this season. In the quarters, she defeated the ninth-seeded German Julia Goerges in straight sets in two hours and 3 minutes.

Both of those sets were dragged to a tie-breaker and Halep had to fight hard to get the much-needed victory. It is also worth mentioning that she is competing in Doha under the tutelage of her new coach Theirry Van Cleemput.

Turns out, getting a new coach has worked out well for her, at least so far. She competed in the Australian Open without one and the end result was her reaching as far as the fourth round, where she lost to Serena Williams.

More than that, the defending French Open champion will be keen on going the distance here. She is considerably experienced and just needs to find her rhythm to get back to her winning ways.

Svitolina looks Menacing

Elina Svitolina has been playing in Doha with a level of efficiency that makes her one of the top favourites to win the tournament. The fourth seed has won all of her matches in straight sets so far, with her last victim being Karolina Muchova.

With that win, she has now made it to her first semifinal of the season – just like Halep. She last played in Melbourne where she reached the quarterfinal, only to lose to Naomi Osaka.

The Ukranian had a jaw-dropping season last year, where she won a couple of important events in Dubai and Rome and capped the year by winning the WTA Finals in Singapore.

Halep v Svitolina Predictions & Tips

This is a fixture that can very well go either way. Svitolina has dominated their past meetings heavily and those defeats will be in Halep’s mind. At the same time, the Ukranian has lost unexpectedly to underdogs on many occasions. This time, her opponent is Halep and she cannot afford to give her any room to play big shots. Both the players need to be on the top of their game to win this one.

Unibet are offering 4/5 for Halep to win and evens for Svitolina to reach the final.

You can watch & bet on Simona Halep v Elina Svitolina on Friday, February 15. The match will be held at 4:30 pm local time.
