Madison Brengle v Zhu Lin Head to Head

This will be their first tour-level meeting. They are 1-1 from their previous two meetings.

Brengle Looking for Better Showing on the Tour This Year

While not very consistent at the top level in 2022, Madison Brengle had a terrific run at the ITF level, particularly at the back end of the season.

The right-handed American won three hard court ITF titles in September and October that took her tally to 19 titles from 30 finals at the ITF level.

Brengle’s best at the tour level last year included quarterfinal appearances in Adelaide-2 and Cleveland.

The 32-year-old, who is at her best on hard courts, will be looking to replicate her ITF form at the top level. First match of the season can be tricky for any player and the American will be hoping to win the contest and start off the season well.

Lin Looking to Climb Back the Rankings

World no. 84 Zhu Lin has also played bulk of her matches on hard courts.

The 28-year-old Chinese player also won three ITF titles last year. It was no surprise that all if them came on hard courts, taking her tally to 15 ITF titles from 27 finals. Unlike Brengle, Lin’s titles were spread out throughout the year. She won in Mexico and Tunisia in March and April and in Landsville, USA in August.

Lin also reached a WTA 125 semifinal, but at the tour level she couldn’t do much and a 6-11 record from the season is a reflection of that. Her best was a quarterfinal finish in Seoul.

The Chinese player, who had peaked to a career-high ranking of 58 in October, has seen a decline in the rankings. Currently ranked no. 84, she will look to climb back the rankings.

Brengle v Lin Prediction and Tip

Brengle is more experienced  and had finished the season with a flurry of wins. Expect her to be in charge of this match.
