18-year-old Linda Noskova is gearing up for an epic 2023 season, and players on tour may want to take note of that.
She announced her intentions in style this week by knocking out the Russian number one, World No. 8 Daria Kasatkina, in the Adelaide International opener. The match lasted two and a half hours and saw Noskova win 6-3, 6-7(2), 6-3. In the process, the 2021 Junior French Open champion also recorded the second top-10 win of her career.
The Czech player had a good season last year; she became a part of the top 100 for a while. She won two singles titles and reached three doubles finals on the ITF Tour. She is the current #102.
In addition, Noskova was a semifinalist in Prague and made it to round two in Tallinn.

Liu Moves Past Hon
World No. 59 Claire Liu began her new season with a three-set win over Priscilla Hon. The 22-year-old American won the match 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, winning 74% of the points behind the first serve.
Like Noskova, Liu also had a good spell in 2022 as she became the World No. 59 – a career-best feat for her.
Among her best results are a title run in the Clarins Open Challenger and a runner-up feat in WTA Rabat. In addition, Liu made was a quarterfinalist in Tokyo and a semifinalist in Monastir. In these tournaments, she knocked out the likes of Ons Jabeur, Katerina Siniakova, Elise Mertens, and Alison Riske-Amritraj.
Noskova v Liu Prediction and Tip
On 8/11, Noskova is starting the match as the favourite – which isn’t too surprising as she has shown a great deal of promise already. The youngster seems to have a spark of destiny towards her – but beating a persistent and slightly more experienced player like Liu may not be easy. Expect a cracking affair.
