Daniil Medvedev v Karen Khachanov Head to Head
Other than a meeting in the Next Gen Finals in 2017, the world number seven Medvedev and 20th-ranked Khachanov have faced off two more times with both players winning once apiece.
Khachanov won their Moscow semifinal in 2018 before Medvedev extracted his revenge by clinching the 2019 Canadian Open encounter.

Medvedev is on a collision path with Novak Djokovic in the semifinal and he knows he will need to be at his best if he has to have any chance of defeating the Serb. He will also take heart from his performance against another Serb, as he crushed Miomir Kecmanovic in his second round encounter.
After edging out Lorenzo Sonego in the first round – with the Italian retiring from the match because of injury – Medvedev needed just 68 minutes in his demolition of Kecmanovic in round two.
The world number seven came through 6-0, 6-3, as seven aces and four breaks of serves punctuated his effort. He faced just one break-point of his own and easily saved it as he raced to a 6-0, 1-0 lead in the encounter.
Kecmanovic tried to remain toe to toe with the Medvedev serve in the second set but was broken in the eighth game. That was the proverbial end of the encounter bar the shouting.
Medvedev might not have it was easy against Khachanov but he looks to have started the new season on a more spritely note than the way he ended last year.

Khachanov Sends Draper Packing
Jack Draper is Britain’s new hope but he was shown his place by Khachanov in their second round encounter.
Khachanov, who earlier crushed Pedro Cachin in the first round, sealed off his quarterfinal berth with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Draper. The match lasted an hour and 32 minutes.
Things were neck in neck till the sixth game of the first set before Khachanov drew first blood by breaking his opponent off the fourth chance he got. He then lost just one more point off his own serve to pocket the first set.
In the second, Khachanov broke to love in the very first set before completing the win with a second break of serve in the seventh game. He served it out to love to march into the last eight.

Medvedev’s form and his general disposition seems to suggest this shouldn’t be much of a problem for him and we expect him to come through in straight sets here.
