Rinderknech Reached Adelaide Final Last Year

Rinderknech will have fond memories of Adelaide from last year. He reached his first senior final here, only to lose to the Australian Thanas Kokkinakis in three sets.

However, he did win a Challenger title in Poland in June, and finished runner-up in another in Vancouver two months later.

Following that he reached the quarter-finals in Metz and Tel Aviv, and the semi-finals in Gijon, before losing to the American Sebastian Korda.

He finished the year not only with a career high ranking, but also with the coveted spot as French number one.

His year began playing in the United Cup for France, but it was not an auspicious start as he lost both his matches, beaten by Francisco Cerundulo of Argentina, and Borna Coric of Croatia, both in straight sets.

Huesler Won Both His United Cup Matches

With the retirement of Roger Federer, Huesler has inherited the mantle of Swiss number one, and he went sone way to justify that status in 2022.

He won his first senior singles title in Sofia in October, where he beat the Dane Holger Rune, in straight sets in the final, and recorded one of his few wins over a top ten player along the way, defeating Pablo Carreno-Busta in one of the earlier rounds.

And he also enjoyed success on the Challenger tour, winning two clay titles, both on Mexican soil. He finished the year by making his Masters debut in Paris, losing in the second round to Karen Khachanov.

Huesler’s 2023 began with him playing for his country in the United Cup, where he won both his matches.

First he beat Timofey Skatov of Kazakhstan in three sets, and then defeated the Pole Daniel Michalski in straight sets.

Results, elsewhere, meant his team did not progress.

Rinderknech v Huesler Prediction and Tip

Because of his previous history in Adelaide, Rinderknech will begin the favourite for this match, although it was Huesler who enjoyed better fortune in the United Cup last week.
