Miomir Kecmanovic v Kyle Edmund Head to Head

The pair have played each other once before, in the semi-final in New York in 2020, Edmund winning their semi-final in straight sets.

Kecmanovic Beaten by Medvedev in Adelaide Last Week

Kecmanovic has appeared in two senior finals, finishing runner-up on grass in Turkey in 2019, and winning on the clay of Kitzbuhel a year later.

And he enjoyed doubles success last year in Los Cabos, where he was partnered by the American William Blumberg.

However, probably the highlight of his season was reaching successive Masters quarter-finals, in Indian Wells and Miami.

He also reached the fourth round of the Australian Open, his best performance in a Grand Slam to date, and he will be looking forward to renewing his acquaintance with Melbourne in a few weeks’ time.

Last week in Adelaide, he began his season with a  comfortable straight sets victory over the Australian Christopher O’Connell.

But he was then well beaten by the former world number one Daniil Medvedev.

Edmund’s Recent Career Blighted by Injury

Edmund was once ranked as high as 14 in the world, was the British number one, and had won two senior titles, the European Open and the New York Open.

However, he then suffered a serious knee injury, and spent much of the next two years either in the operating theatre or the treatment room, and it has been a long way back from there.

It was not until the mixed doubles at Wimbledon last year that he made his belated comeback to the sport, whilst it was the following month in Washington that saw his singles return.

He lost in the second round to compatriot Dan Evans.

Last week in Adelaide he played the world number 15 Jannik Sinner, losing their first round match in straight sets.

He is playing again this week courtesy of his Protected Ranking.

Kecmanovic v Edmund Prediction and Tip

Although Edmund won their previous match, that was before injury robbed him of the best part of two years of his career. Kecmanovic has had no such issues, and will begin the firm favourite in this match.
