Karen Khachanov v Marc-Andrea Huesler Head to Head
They have faced each other two times before this and each of those matches have been won by Khachanov. The first meeting came at the 2019 Davis Cup while in 2022 they met again in the Paris Masters where Khachanov was stretched to three sets.

While Khachanov made a solid start to his season when he won his first two rounds at this very competition last week, he was sent packing with some ease in the quarterfinals of that tournament.
Khachanov, after easing past Pedro Cachin in the first round, shocked Jack Draper in the second to make the last eight. In fact his 6-4, 6-2 win over Draper came despite the Russian having gone into the encounter as an underdog.
In the quarterfinals, however, he was no match for Daniil Medvedev, who routed him 6-3, 6-3.
What Khachanov will hope for now is another similar performance in Adelaide after having received a first round bye this time around.

Huesler Scrapes Past Rinderknech
Following on from a couple of singles wins at the United Cup, Huesler continued with his victory run at the Adelaide International when he carved out a hard-fought but deeply satisfying three-set win over Arthur Rinderknech in the first round here.
The world number 55, who is yet to lose a match this season, wasn’t the favourite coming into this match and lost the first set to Rinderknech.
In the second, Huesler failed to get himself a break of serve, pushing it into the tie-breaker but off his fourth set-point, the Swiss player was able to level the encounter.
The decider saw Huesler break his opponent in the very first game and from there on, he clung on to his own serve to make it to the round of 16.
Another win here could make it a superb achievement but for the current world number 55, it would also mean he would break into the top 50 of the ATP Rankings.
Khachanov v Huesler Prediction and Tip
Khachanov is a 7/20 favourite here and while we believe he has the goods to take his opponent down here, those are far too short odds for his win. A closer match than that could be in the offing.
