Emma Raducanu v Tamara Korpatsch

Emma Raducanu declared ahead of the Australian Open that her ankle is fine and she’s fit to play. It didn’t seem possible a few days ago when footage from her practice saw her barely move at all. We’ll assume that’s true and everything written will be based on that.

Raducanu looked really sharp to start this year in the limited time she spent on courts. It’s clear that the talent is there and the ball-striking can be a on very high level. Not playing for a while will hurt her in this match and we do expect her to hit a wall at a point.

Korpatsch fights hard and I do think she’ll make this one worthwhile as their last match was. It happened in Stuttgart on clay, Korpatsch’s preferred surface, and she pushed it to three sets.

Not sure that happens here but I do think it’s worth trying to back her to keep it close. I’m not too convinced Raducanu’s ankle is fine so backing Korpatsch slightly has some good value.

Tip: Over 20.5 games in the match: 1/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)

Rafael Nadal v Jack Draper

A winless Rafael Nadal will try to defeat Jack Draper who earned four wins this year already in the first round of the Australian Open.

It’s an incredibly tough matchup for Nadal, maybe one of the toughest imaginable he could have gotten. Draper is motivated and he’s not afraid of the moment or the match. The weapons are there so this promises to be a very tricky affair for Nadal.

Don’t get fooled by Nadal losing both matches as he’ll certainly bring his best tennis to date in this match. Rewind to the ATP Finals last year when he crushed Ruud out of nowhere because he needed to win that match. I expect him to bring a very good level once again.

Even so, I don’t think it will be flawless. Draper will most likely win a set as Nadal tries to problem-solve in real time.

Tip: Nadal to win AND Both players to win a set: 13/10 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)

Iga Swiatek v Jule Niemeier

Number one Swiatek starts off her campaign against a player that nearly ousted her at the US Open a few months ago.

Jule Niemeier has a really strong hand that hits the ball incredibly well on her day. New York saw that level and it took Swiatek a very focused approach to turn it around. She was very careful ahead of the match underlining the need to be really ready for this one.

Expect her to be but expect the German to rise to the occasion and deliver some good tennis. Al her best showing were at major events so I think we’re getting it again. I don’t think she can or will win but it’s certainly a good sign for our suggestion.

The over on games seems very likely as Swiatek weathers that one good set by Niemeier. It hit in New York so we’ll trust it again.

Tip: Over 18.5 games in the match: 5/61 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
