Rafael Nadal v Mackenzie McDonald

McDonald upset Brandon Nakashima in the first round after a superb finish to a really close match that went on for three sets. The American has played well in Australia over the years reaching the 4th round last year as well. He faced Nadal only once and it was at the French Open losing in three sets.

Nadal showed everybody that he’s still not done with tennis by beating Jack Draper in four sets and it was an okay performance albeit not brilliant. He will certainly need to improve a bit against McDonald because the American has ways to hurt Nadal if he’s not careful.

They never played on hard courts but McDonald will hope to keep this match close and patiently wait for his chance. It’s likely that Nadal gives him looks but he lacks a bit of power to really deliver the deadly blow.

I expect Nadal to problem-solve this one in each set eventually pulling out a win in straight sets. I could see him struggling to start but once he warms up properly, it should be simple enough.

Tip: Nadal to win in straight sets: 4/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)

Danielle Collins v Karolina Muchova

A fascinating matchup awaits us here with two excellent players taking on each other. Neither played that much in the past few months due to injuries but both have a game that works really well in Australia.

Powerful and precise serves, and good groundstrokes but very injury-prone. They never played before which is interesting but we do expect a really close one here. I could see any combination of Collins winning, Muchova winning and the over.

I do lean towards Collins a bit simply due to her run last year. She’s looking healthy again and the start of the season is generally when she plays her best tennis. Muchova won easier than Collins in the first round but I don’t think that fatigue will be a major impact.

Take the American to get this done in two sets if you’re feeling risky but she should win. Either in two or in three sets.

Tip: Collins to win in straight sets: 11/8 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)

Coco Gauff v Emma Raducanu

The best match of the day will come between Gauff and Raducanu fairly late in the day in Melbourne. Two superstars of the game will face off against each other in an exciting affair where Gauff is the big favourite. She’s better ranked and is playing better at the moment but they also never played against each other.

Gauff is 6-0 this year and Raducanu will face problems in this matchup. She hits the ball well but Gauff covers the court really well and she will get many balls back.

That is going to trouble Raducanu and I don’t think she’ll handle it all that well. She can obviously win this one with her best but I don’t see it really happening. Gauff is a major matchup problem for her and is playing better and with more confidence.

I can see Raducanu fall apart really quickly here so take Gauff to win this in straight sets.

Tip: Gauff to win in straight sets: 4/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
