Caroline Garcia v Alison van Uytvanck Head to Head
There have been three previous meetings between these two players including one in the Billie Jean King Cup and Garcia leads the head to head 2-1.
Interestingly, two of their matches have come at this very tournament – in 2020 and in 2022. Both were at the quarterfinal stage with van Uytvanck winning the former and Garcia winning the latter.

She was a whopping favourite coming into her opening round match against Tereza Martincova and in the end, Garcia did come through in straight sets. However, there were moments in the match where she might have been under some kind of pressure.
In an encounter that lasted slightly over two hours, Garcia served up eight aces but faced the heat of a poor second serve which she won just 39% of the times. As a result she was broken twice in the match.
What worked for her was her returning, with Garcia also making life difficult for Martincova’s second serves and ensuring she edged ahead with three breaks in the match.
Garcia, who would have been disappointed with her fourth round exit at the Australian Open, converted the third match-point she had in the second set to seal her second round berth.

van Uytvanck Tames Tamara to Enter Round Two
Alison van Uytvanck was coming off successive defeats in the lead-up to this tournament and while she was an overwhelming favourite against Tamara Korpatsch, there might have been a slight nervousness coming into this one.
She did not play like that though, as the Belgian ran away to a 6-2, 6-4 win over Korpatsch in a match lasting an hour and a half.
Sure, van Uytvanck’s serving wasn’t the best as she got broken in the very first game she served and then three more times in the second set but each time she managed to find a way to dish out the same treatment to her opponent.
In the first set, van Uytvanck broke Korpatsch three times while doing that four times in the second set to carve out the win.
Now while she will come into this second round match against an opponent who is nearly 70 places ahead of her, van Uytvanck does love her time indoors with the Belgian having won five career titles on this surface.
Garcia v van Uytvanck Prediction and Tip
Garcia might be 1/4 favourite but it does look like she might have a few difficulties against her opponent here given their previous record and van Uytvanck’s record indoors.
