Alejandro Davidovich Fokina v Ugo Humbert Head to Head
Davidovich Fokina won their only meeting at the tour level in the quarterfinal of Estoril in 2021.
They also met once at a lower level tournament with Humbert winning that match in 2018.

World no. 32 Alejandro Davidovich Fokina is all set to make his third appearance in Montpellier.
Seeded no. 5, the Spaniard comes into the tournament with a 3-2 record in 2023. Davidovich Fokina won the first two matches of the season in Adelaide-2, defeating Brandon Nakashima and John Millman, but he went down to Roberto Bautista Agut in the quarterfinals of that tournament.
He then won a dramatic five-setter against Alexander Bublik in the first round of the Australian Open, but lost another five-setter in the second round to Tommy Paul.
The 23-year-old, who reached his only ATP final at the Monte-Carlo Masters last year, had a disappointing 21-26 run last year. Apart from that display in Monte-Carlo, his other notable performances last year included three quarterfinal finishes and a run to the fourth round of the U.S. Open.
But barring those results he also made a number of early exits and finished the season with five consecutive defeats.
He is 2-2 in Montpellier. He had made it to the quarterfinals on his debut in 2021 but lost in the first round last year. He will be hoping to get off to a good start this year and go deep in the tournament, but faces a potential quarterfinal against fourth seed Bautista Agut.

Humbert In Solid Form
World no. 86 Ugo Humbert is coming off a solid showing at the Davis Cup qualifiers over the weekend, helping France come back from 1-2 down to beat Hungary 3-2.
Humbert defeated Marton Fucsovics 6-3, 6-2 in the first singles rubber and then clinched the decisive fifth match, beating Fabian Marozsan 6-3, 6-3.
The 24-year-old left-hander, who had a forgettable 2022, is 4-4 in 2023. Apart from his wins at the Davis Cup, he won his other two matches at the Australian Open, defeating Richard Gasquet and Denis Kudla but fell to Holger Rune in the third round in what was his best ever performance at the Melbourne major.
A three-time champion on the tour, Humbert went 9-21 on the tour last year, but thanks to a decent showing at the Challenger level, he finished 2022 with an overall record of 33-29.
Humbert has received a wild card for the tournament. He is 2-4 in Montpellier, with both wins coming in 2021, when he was a quarterfinalist.
