Andujar Winless in 2023

Spanish veteran Pablo Andujar will be looking to get on the board for the 2023 season when he returns to Cordoba for the third time in his career.

In his 20th season at professional level, Andujar is not contemplating on retirement just yet. But the signs that this season could be a real struggle were evident after losing to world No. 415 Adam Walton in the Australian Open qualifying.

The 37-year-old’s current ranking means that he will be unable to get into the main draw at the low-tier ATP events. He had signed up for Cordoba with an entry ranking of No. 121, which was sufficient at the time.

But as it stands, he is the lowest-rnaked player in the main draw in Cordoba who didn’t need a wild card or go through qualfiying.

Cerundolo’s Return Evokes Memories of 2021

Juan Manuel Cerundolo did not play in the 2022 edition of the Cordoba Open, so technically, he hasn’t defended his crown which he sensationally won as a qualifier back in 2021.

Cerundolo’s triumph was an ATP Tour debut for the ages and made it even more special by beating a seasoned campaigner Albert Ramos Vinolas in the final.

Cerundolo has since improved by leaps and bounds, breaking the Top 100 for the first time (although he is currently outside it) in his career and continuing to impress on the Challenger Tour.

So far in 2023, he is cleaning house on the clay courts. Cerundolo has amassed two titles, both in Tigre on home territory. However, his unbeaten start to 2023 came to an end when he lost to Hugo Dellien in the quarterfinal at the Concepcion Challenger in Chile at the end of January.

Andujar v Cerundolo Prediction and Tip

Andujar will be up against it here. Cerundolo is on fire in 2023, winning 12 of his 13 matches on clay. This should be a routine win in the books for the 2021 champion.
