Pedro Cachin v Hugo Dellien Head to Head

Cachin leads Dellien 3-2 in their rivalry dating back to a Futures tournament in 2012. They have actually met here at the Cordoba Open before, back in 2020 where Cachin demolished his Bolivian opponent 6-1 6-1.

Dellien, however, exacted revenge at the Santiago Challenger last season, winning in three.

Losing Effort for Cachin at the Davis Cup

Pedro Cachin watched as Argentina lost their tie against Finland 3-1 in Espoo. The relatively inexperienced Argentina team were without their top-ranked player Diego Schwartzman.

But in Francisco Cerundolo they had more than an adequate deputy. Cerundolo scored Argnetina’s only point in the tie, beating Otto Virtanen. As for Cachin, he lost his rubber against Emil Ruusuvuori in straight sets.

Now the World No. 66 will fly back to his hometown in Cordoba to compete at the 250 event for the third time in his career. Cachin has been to a quarterfinal before in 2019, coming from qualifying and shocking the likes of Cameron Norrie and Pablo Carreno Busta.

So far in 2023, he hasn’t managed to post a single win on Tour. And worryingly for the 27-year-old, he hasn’t won a set either. Can he make amends on home soil when he takes on Hugo Dellien?

Strong Qualifying Campaign for Dellien

Hugo Dellien has battled his way into the main draw of the Cordoba Open with a strong qualifying campaign during the weekend.

Dellien, a former world No. 64, defeated Thiago Seyboth Wild in three sets, winning 7-5 in a tight decider. And he came from a set down to ease past Nicolas Kicker, winning 12 of the last 15 games in the match.

The Bolivian was very much looking forward to kickstarting his 2023 campaign proper on the clay. He lost to Enzo Couacaud in the first round of the Australian Open, but it was hardly the type of surface he was expected to excel in.

He rekindled his season with a semifinal run at the Concepcion Challenger at the end of January and should have the momentum on his side when he takes so Pedro Cachin, likely on Tuesday evening.

Cachin v Dellien Prediction and Tip

Depending on how the organizers see fit on when to schedule this match given Argnetina’s participation at the Davis cup qualifiers in Finland, Dellien should be the favorite. Cachin hasn’t won a match this year and will need to make a quick transition to clay after a losing effort during the weekend.
