Federico Coria v Marco Cecchinato Head to Head

The head-to-head between Coria and Cecchinato is tied at 2-2. Cecchinato won their last bout at the Rio de Janeiro Challenger semifinal last year in three sets.

Sixth Win in a Row for Coria

Federico Coria showcased his clay-court expertise by defeating Thiago Monteiro. In a rare first-round match between two Top-100 players at the Cordoba Open, it was Coria who rode on his recent momentum to win 6-7 6-1 6-2.

After losing at the Australian Open in the first hurdle, Coria rushed back to South America to begin his clay-court adventure in Concepcion. And he won that Challenger tournament at the end of last month in style, dropping just one set all week.

And it was clear he was going to have the upper hand in this matchup against Monteiro. He dropped the first set in a tiebreak, but the Brazilian lefty won only three games after that.

Coria cleaned house. He did not face a single break point in the second and third sets as he completely obliterated his opponent with baseline aggression.

Cecchinato Ousts Bagnis

Marco Cecchinato registered his first win since the opening week of the season as he got his 2023 campaign back on track in Cordoba.

Cecchinato defeated Argentina’s World No. 88 Facundo Bagnis for the second time in five meetings. He won 6-2 7-6 in an hour and 34 minutes.

The Italian was efficient in his return game. He converted both break points he earned in the first set and served his way into the lead effortlessly.

Bagnis, though, raised his level in the second set to keep up with the Italian’s high topspin ground strokes. After saving a couple of match points at 4-5 down, he threatened to complete the recovery in the tiebreak. But Cecchinato held firm and did not relinquish his lead in the breaker.

Coria v Cecchinato Prediction and Tip

Advantage Coria in this one. He is on an excellent run of form and while we envisage Cecchinato taking a set from him, he’ll likely have the confidence to close out the win down the stretch.
