Stefanos Tsitsipas v Emil Ruusuvuori Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came at the Stockholm Open 2022 semifinals where Tsitsipas won in straight sets.

He did feature in the Davis Cup in the week following the Australian Open but this will be the first time that Tsitsipas, like many of the other top-ranked players in the world, takes to court for an ATP match after the season’s first major.
It has been a solid start to the season alright for Tsitsipas with the Greek number one winning 12 of the 13 matches he’s played this season. His only loss obviously came at the final of the Australian Open where he went down to Novak Djokovic. Two of these victories came in the Davis Cup.
Interestingly, Tsitsipas’ performances in this tournament in Rotterdam have improved with times.
In the first three seasons of his participation here, Tsitsipas had failed to get past the opening round while making the second round in 2020. There was a semifinal appearance in 2021 before he finally made it to the title-decider here last season before losing to Felix Auger-Aliassime.

Ruusuvuori Coming off Cressy Defeat in Montpellier
He was once ranked 40th in the world as recently as the first week of this season. Ruusuvuori’s performances since then have been underwhelming enough to fall to 53rd on the ATP charts and starting out against a player of the calibre of Tsitsipas might not help matters too much.
The Finnish player made an under-par start to the year as he fell in the Pune Open opener to Benjamin Bonzi before caving in to Mikael Ymer at the Adelaide International 2. Again, this was his first match of the tournament.
At the Australian Open, Ruusuvuori finally won a match but Andrey Rublev sent him packing in the second round.
He got his revenge against Ymer last week in Montpellier but facing up to Maxime Cressy in the second round and coming as a 9/20 favourite in that encounter, Ruusuvuori lost 6-4, 6-4 to the American.
Things might not be getting any easier for Ruusuvuori given that he will be up against an in-form world number three.
