The 102nd-ranked Gomez overcame Gabriel Diallo and Miomir Kecmanovic in three sets apiece to make the last eight stage before John Isner got the better of him. And even that wasn’t the easiest of wins for Isner, with Gomez making his American opponent fight till the very end.

Tung-lin Qualifies for Main Draw
Tung-lin’s inexperience at the highest level can be seen from the fact he has never won a single main draw match on the ATP circuit.
While the Taiwan player has won six Davis Cup singles encounters, Tung-lin hasn’t done anything of note in ATP main draw events, having never won a match. In fact he has featured in only three such tournaments before this, all of which saw him lose the first round encounter.
Which is why, that Tung-lin has ever qualified for this event, with wins over Brandon Holt and Evan Zhu, is a huge step-up for him.
