Alexander Zverev v Tallon Griekspoor Head to Head

Their only previous meeting came in the 2021 Wimbledon and Zverev was a straight-set winner.

Zverev Edges Past Kwon

It took Zverev an hour and 42 minutes and it was a straight-set win in the end but it wasn’t the easiest first round matches for the German.

Trying to find his rhythm back after returning to the sport from having been out for a while, Zverev notched up his second ATP win of the season as he overcame Soon-woo Kwon in his opener.

Zverev won 6-4, 7-6 (4) as he showed signs of getting some of his best serving back. Sure, he struggled with his second serves, winning just 30% of those points but Zverev saved all the three break-points he faced while edging past his opponent’s serve on one occasion – he got just two chances though.

Coming into this second round match, Zverev would be happier with his showing against Kwon than most of the results throughout the season so far. Can he now sustain that momentum come the second round?

Griekspoor Continues Good Form with Ymer Win

It’s been the kind of start this season for Griekspoor that he would have always dreamed of. Having fallen from his career-best ranking of 44th to his current 61st in the world, Griekspoor has made another dash to a place in the top 50.

And he has been fairly successful so far, winning seven of the eight matches he has played so far this year.

The seventh of those wins came up against Mikael Ymer, whom the Dutchman defeated 7-6 (7), 7-5 in an hour and 54 minutes. Griekspoor saved one set-point in the opening set and had three match-points he frittered away before coming up trumps off the fourth.

Griekspoor’s only loss of the season, following his title victory at the Pune Open, came in the third round of the Australian Open where he went down to the eventual runner-up Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Can he now test Zverev?

Zverev v Griekspoor Prediction and Tip

Zverev showed some traces of his old self but Griekspoor is in good form and can probably even test the German here.
