Tallon Griekspoor v Quentin Halys Head to Head

Quentin Halys has a winning record against Tallon Griekspoor having triumphed in their only meeting todate at the Istanbul Challenger in three sets five years ago.

Losing Effort for Griekspoor in Rotterdam

Tallon Griekspoor tends to save his best tennis for the Rotterdam Open almost every year. He’s beaten some top names at his home tournament, most notably Stan Wawrinka and Karen Khachanov down the years.

But 2023 is unlike any of his previous wins in Rotterdam. He reached his first semifinal at the event, coming in with the reputation as one of the rapidly improving players in the men’s tour.

Griekspoor notched wins over Mikael Ymer and Alexander Zverev en route to the last four where he ran an in-form Jannik Sinner very close and lost in two tight sets – 7-5 7-6 – extinguishing any hopes he had of becoming the first Dutch champion in Rotterdam in 25 years.

Still, it’s been the best start to a season as far as Griekspoor’s resume is concerned. He won his first ATP title in Pune last month and arrives in Doha with a 10-2 record.

Halys Sits At Career-High Ranking

Quentin Halys is also another player making waves this year. Halys has predominantly played most of his tennis at the Challenger level.

But the big-hitting Frenchman is unlikely to go back that route anytime soon having reached two quarterfinals to start the year on the ATP Tour.

That has elevated Halys to a career-high ranking of No. 61 which earns him an automatic main draw spot in Doha, which will also be his debut at the tournament.

The 26-year-old lost in the first round in Rotterdam this past week, having entered the tournament as a lucky loser, but fell to home favorite Botic van de Zandschulp in three close sets.

Griekspoor v Halys Prediction and Tip

It’s a big-hitting contest as both players possess enormous firepower on serve and off the ground. We do expect the games spread to cover in this one, and a small edge on a fresh Halys to win moneyline.
