Andy Murray v Lorenzo Sonego

Andy Murray accepted a late wild card entry into the Doha event where he got another tricky draw. He will face Italian Lorenzo Sonego in the first round. Tricky one but certainly a winnable one for Murray, especially if he brings the level he had in Australia.

Murray is 4-2 on the year which is fair but he impressed with his play, especially his fighting spirit. Sonego as a streaky player certainly will not like that as he prefers to keep the rallies short and doesn’t like when he gets too many balls back.

They never played which is somewhat surprising and their styles clash quite a bit. A lot will depend on how Sonego serves because he can go on some crazy runs where players struggle to return any balls to him.

Overall I’ve been more impressed with Murray lately and there is very good value in betting him in this spot. The risk is big because he can also lose but if you’re fealing adventurous, back Murray to win the match. He’s played well in the Gulf in the past.

Tip: Murray to win the match: 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)

Elena Rybakina v Bianca Andreescu

Another incredible R1 matchup in Dubai will see the Australian Open runner-up take on Bianca Andreescu. This is a match between major winners as both of them won one in the past. Both like to attack and both have a heavy game but it’s hard to top Rybakina in that regard.

She’s been really good this year and the conditions generally suited her. The balls changed as did the surface so it plays a bit slower than usual. She won’t mind as it will give her enough time to unload on her groundstrokes but she can be very up and down with them.

Andreescu guarantees to give this match some fight between the players which should be interesting but I’m not sure she has the level to make this fully competitive.

I do think Rybakina is playing a bit better at the moment and she’ll likely win. I think it’s going to be in straight sets but be aware it’s the WTA and it could easily go to three as well.

Tip: Rybakina to win in straight sets: 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)

Karolina Pliskova v Marketa Vondrousova

Another one of many superb R1 clashes in Dubai will feature a Czech derby. Pliskova aginst VOndrousova is an interesting matchup with two different styles. One hard-hitting by Pliskova and one rather defending by Vondrousova.

Generally, Pliskova doesn’t do that well in those circumstances but her H2H against Vondrousova is 2-0. She never lost against her but this could be the first time as she is quite up and down lately. Vondrousova has been somewhat more solid but she’s been dealing with so many physical issues.

She’s never far from retiring from a match because her body just seems to betray her more often than not. Pliskova is more healthy but you’re never sure what will happen with her either. She can be great but also terrible and it’s really a toss-up.

Generally, Dubai suits her more than Vondrousova but it’s close. I think the best idea would be to bet the over and see what happens.

Tip: Over 20,5 games in the match: 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
