Barbora Krejcikova v Petra Kvitova Head to Head

Surprisingly, this will be the first time that the two ladies will meet on the WTA Tour.

Krejcikova Moves Past Kasatkina

2021 runner-up Barbora Krejcikova has enjoyed a promising campaign so far in Dubai, dismissing the likes of Irina-Camelia Begu and the 7th seed Daria Kasatkina.

The match against Kasatkina proved to be more challenging than the straight-set win over Begu. Lasting for two and a half hours, Krejcikova took the win 6-4, 4-6, 7-5, maintaining a 69% first-service win rate.

Having somewhat of a rusty spell in 2023, the 30-year-old has struggled for wins. Across Doha, Abu Dhabi, and Adelaide, she won just two matches while losing three. In the Australian Open, she did make it to the fourth round before losing to Jessica Pegula.

There is not much to complain about in the doubles department, as she bagged her fourth successive Grand Slam title by defending the Aus Open crown with Katerina Siniakova.

Kvitova Dismisses Putintseva

Petra Kvitova, former World No. 2 and current #15, has had a comfortable run this week as she eased past Martina Trevisan and Yulia Putintseva without dropping a set.

It was a routine win against Putintseva, ending 6-4, 6-4 with eight aces and a 76% first-service win rate.

With this, Petra is now 8-3 in 2023, with her highlights being the quarterfinal showings in Adelaide and two victories in the United Cup. Most recently, she competed in Doha, losing to Coco Gauff 3-6, 6-7(6).

Kvitova has a rich history in Dubai, winning the tournament in 2013 and reaching the final in the 2019 edition.

The 32-year-old has endured bleak spells over the last two seasons, ending the year outside the top 15 with similar records (27-19 in 2022, 28-16 in 2021).

Kvitova v Krejcikova Prediction and Tip

It is surprising to see that the two tennis giants have had to wait this long for a proper meeting on tour. The match can swing in either direction – both players are former top three stars with a wonderful collection of trophies.

They have also been out of sorts of late; that said, Krejcikova’s superior double form may give her a slight advantage. Expect a cracking match.
