Felix Auger Aliassime v Daniil Medvedev Head to Head

Medvedev has a 5-0 record against the Canadian. Most recently they met in the quarterfinal of the Rotterdam Open last week and the Russian won that match in straight sets.

Auger Aliassime Into His First Semifinal of the Season

A day after registering a come-from-behind win against Jason Kubler in the second round, Felix Auger-Aliassime needed an hour and 50 minutes to break Alejandro Davidovich Fokina’s resistance in the quarterfinal of Thursday.

The second seed saved both the break points that he faced against the Soaniard and converted one of four that he held to beat the seventh seed 6-4, 7-6 (7-5).

In the first round, Auger Aliassime had rallied from a set down to win the two-hour-plus contest 4-6, 6-1, 6-4. Thanks to the two wins in Doha, the world no 9 has improved his season record to 7-3. He had made it to the fourth round at the Australian Open and was a quarterfinalist in Rotterdam.

Into the semifinals, Auger-Aliassime is now a win away from his 14th final. He was 0-8 from his first 8 finals, but saw a change of fortunes last year, when he reached five finals and also picked up his first four career titles.

Medvedev Extends Streak

Third seed Daniil Medvedev held off Australia’s Christopher O’Connell in a three-set quarterfinal that lasted two hours on Thursday.

Medvedev was off to a flying start, winning the first four games in a row and eventually taking the first set. O’Connell rebounded in the next set, but then a solitary break for the world no. 8 in the final, clinched victory for him.

Medvedev, who had a first-round bye,  had earlier beaten Liam Broady 6-4, 6-3 in the round of 16 in Doha.

Following the two wins in the tournament, Medvedev has now extended his unbeaten run to seven matches. The Russian had won the Rotterdam Open title last week by beating Jannik Sinner in the final.

Prior to that, Medvedev was a semifinalist in Adelaide and made it to the third round of the Australian Open.

A 16-time champion on the tour, Medvedev will be looking to reach his 29th career final.

Auger Aliassime v Medvedev Prediction and Tip

Medvedev has a perfect 5-0 record against the world no. 9 and he will look to keep that record intact.
