Iga Swiatek v Barbora Krejcikova Head to Head
There have been three previous meetings between these two and Swiatek leads 2-1. Swiatek had won their first two matches at the 2021 Miami Open and Italian Open while last season when they met again in Ostrava it was Krejcikova who came through in the final in three sets.

Swiatek Pummels Gauff
Swiatek was always the favourite going into her semifinal but some might have hoped for Cori Gauff to put up a bit of a fight for long enough to make a match out of it. Unfortunately for Gauff, much like most players who had met Swiatek before her in recent times, she was blown away by the world no.1’s brilliance.
In a match that lasted less than an hour and a half, Swiatek found herself broken twice but that did not stop her from winning 6-4, 6-2.
The Polish number one raced off to a 5-2 lead in the first set before Gauff pulled one back. Swiatek took her time but finally won the opening set off her fifth set-point.
The second set was as easy as the rest of the tournament has been for Swiatek. She went 4-0 up and while she dropped her serve once, Swiatek broke right back for the third time to claim the win off her very first match-point.
Swiatek had earlier dropped just three games in the tournament to make it to the semifinal.

Krejcikova Pins Pegula in a Three-Setter
The kind of tournament that Krejcikova has had, one would like to believe she has the game to upset the Swiatek apple-cart. Or at least ruffle a few feathers.
Because after having already sent out Daria Kasatkina and Petra Kvitova earlier in the competition, Krejcikova had shocked the second seeded Aryna Sabalenka in the quarterfinal.
And in the semifinal she got herself another scalp by defeating Jessica Pegula in a topsy-turvy three-setter. Krecjikova won 6-1, 5-7, 6-0 in a match that lasted around two hours.
The former Grand Slam winner was broken twice, both of which came in the second set. Other than that, however, she was at her ruthless best as she got the better of Pegula’s serve on five occasions in sets one and three.
Swiatek’s on-court quality at the moment is another level; definitely better than what Pegula has dished out in recent times. It could make Krejcikova’s task more difficult but at the same time she is running on her confidence and we can expect her to come out pumped up.
Swiatek v Krejcikova Prediction and Tip
Swiatek will look to do what she has done all year – come out hard and without giving her opponent any chances early in the match. Can Krejcikova withstand this early storm? We certainly think she has a better chance of doing that than some of the others before her.
