Caroline Garcia v Kaja Juvan Head to Head

This will be their first meeting on the WTA Tour.

Garcia, a Heavy Favourite in Monterrey

A runner-up here in 2015, top-seed Caroline Garcia will hope to build some momentum before heading for the Sunshine Doubles next month.

The 29-year-old delivered a phenomenal turnaround in 2022 – bagging four titles, including the Cincinnati Open and WTA Finals. Those results eventually propelled her back into the top 10 and positioned her nicely for an equally impressive spell in 2023.

Now ranked World No. 5, Garcia has certainly delivered so far. She reached the quarterfinal in Doha and Adelaide (losing in three sets to Maria Sakkari and Belinda Bencic), and the fourth round in the Australian Open.

Caro was also a runner-up in Lyon, where she lost in the final to Alycia Parks.

Most recently, she played in the Dubai Tennis Championships where she lost to Madison Keys in the opener. All in all, she is 11-5.

Juvan in a Rut

Kaja Juvan is 3-3 in 2023; a dearth of big wins has led her to crash from the top 100 to her current spot of #114.

The 22-year-old Slovenian has played in only three tournaments, with her best result being the second-round stint in the Australian Open (loss to Elena Rybakina in straight sets).

Her other events were in Hobart and Lyon where she could not make it past the qualifiers.

Just last June, Juvan was ranked World No. 58 and had picked up her first WTA trophy – a runner-up one at that – in Strasbourg. She later reached the third round at Wimbledon – which was the last time in 2022 when she bagged multiple wins in a tournament.

Garcia v Juvan Prediction and Tip

Garcia is the heavy favourite here and anything short of a straight-set win would be unacceptable from the Frenchwoman.

Of course, she is not entirely immune to defeats but given Juvan’s current disposition, it is hard to imagine her taking on someone like Caroline and beating her when she is doing quite well on the circuit.
