Lin Zhu v Caroline Dolehide Head to Head
There have been two previous meetings between these two including one on the ITF level and another at the WTA circuit. Dolehide won them both.

Zhu Expected to Break Top 40
For the first time in her career, the 29-year-old Zhu will break into the top 40 when the new rankings are released next week irrespective of the result of this match. That was after she started off in this tournament ranked 41st on the WTA charts and has made the quarterfinals already.
Zhu has had to put up a fighting show in both her matches though.
In the first round she overcame Anna Bondar 6-4, 7-6 (4) but things got tougher in the second round against Rebecca Marino who pushed her into a third set. Eventually, Zhu won 7-6 (4), 2-6, 6-3 to make it to the last eight with the match lasting two hours and 20 minutes.
Rather interestingly, Zhu struggled with her serve and was broken four times in the encounter having faced 15 break-points. She managed to break back on only three occasions but where she did score over her opponent was the opening tie-breaker where she seemed to have upped her game.
And that’s exactly what she would like to do come her last eight encounter.

Turnaround in Dolehide’s Fortunes
Before coming into this tournament, Dolehide had absolutely struggled to get going all season.
She had lost in the first qualifying round at both, the Auckland Open and Australian Open, and then fallen in the first round of a WTA 125 tournament as well. Dolehide did win a couple of matches on the ITF circuit but when she got back to WTA Merida, a first qualifying round defeat awaited her.
Things have changed drastically here.
Dolehide first came through the qualifiers by winning both of them in straight sets to make the main draw. She then routed Jule Niemeier in the first round, dropping just one game despite coming into the match as a 6/4 underdog.
And in the second round here Dolehide made it four straight-set wins in a row by carving out a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Anna Karolina Schmiedlova.
